Tim Bush in Saginaw does poor boy installs. He actually lives outside of Saginaw City (in a very safe area), he specializes in working on Wings, I had an '86 Aspencade and he quoted me around $900 for the complete work. I know it sounds like alot, BUT, he warrantees his work, and has done many of these. If you live in the Detroit area, only about a 90 minute drive up the superslab (I-75), plus you could take the missus (?) to Frankenmuth and let her have some fun. You would have to leave your Wing with him and go back to get it after he is finished. Here is his number 989-737-4709 and his email is tbush4778@gmail.com. Tim is easy to talk to, and he fixed the problem on my GL1800 (see post on tech talk about NO START, NO REVERSE. Good luck on what you decide.
More on the 1200, on my 1200 the famous connector had corroded and a local shop found it, and cut it off and hardwired the wires from it and then heat shrank them, and I took to trips to the UP and had no problems. You might want to try that UNLESS your stator is fried, then you have only 2 choices, and neither one is cheap. Keep the shiny sided up.

detdrbuzzard,

I live in Brighton, MI.
My 84 1200 Stator just died on a trip to Gaylord MI., I'll be ordering my kit this week and doing the install in the next couple of weeks.
I'll do mine first, If all goes well, I can help with yours.

Ride Safe,
Goodini
