It's hard to say without more info but I had a similar problem with my limited. It would idle fine and run ok and then the rpms would drop off to 2000. I ran injector cleaner through it with no help. I did a static check on all electric parts connected to the firing of the plugs, all checked good. Finely I had the rpm drop off while it was it was at idle and found the rear two plugs were not firing. I replaced the coil that was related to that set of plugs and all is fine now. I hope this helps. If not post more info and myself or some one on the forum should be able to solve the problem.

upon further investigation compression on all cylinders was fine ,appears that all spark plugs seem to be firing with a spark checker.problem not as noticeable at the higher rpm range say above 3000.

I almost forgot to mention if I pull the spark plug wire off of any of the plugs engine stalls.

Have you tried to clean your injectors by running seafoam or a similar cleaner thru them. If not you might try that. If you do, disconnect the fuel pump by pulling the fuse and then running the cleaner directly thru the air filter opening. It will smoke a lot but this will clean the injectors and the associated componets.

Did try running the seafoam cleaner in with the gas no difference was noticed, going to try through the air intake as suggested.

The EFI system can be a bear to diagnose...I went through this with a guy in Canada...Ultimately successful results...
Understanding the system is vital(I got that covered) and you with the proper test equipment can resolve this problem...
There are a series of tests to be able to isolate the trouble...
A Digital volt meter is needed.

First is the common problem ....Poor idle but runs run Fair at 3k...

You appear to have a "fine tuning" problem...It sounds like,by your description, that the bike is in "limp" mode.
Usually the ECM is getting erroneous voltages from a sensor or none at all.
Download the manual that covers your bike and try one thing in the mean time...
Locate the plug that connects the ECM to the bike...Unplug it,inspect the connections for corrosion, clean, plug it in,unplug it again, plug it in and start the bike.....

The guy in Canada had low sensor feed voltage...It was about 3.85 vdc at each sensor and the TPS....it should have been 5.0 vdc....Doing what I described above, restored the volts and his bike ran fine...Just a bad connection in the ECM plug..... Verified as he now measured 5 volts on the TPS and bank sensors.

Ended up using Lucas oil fuel injector cleaner and octane booster this helped to get it to idle and run better. Then I also changed the spark plugs used the NGK iridium spark plugs after doing all of these the bike is running alot better now .
Thanks to all for the helpful information! :)
