yellow spark on 4 cly

Post by rcmanwood » Sun Jun 23, 2013 1:17 pm

I have a gl1200 aspc and have a miss the spark on all 4 cly is yellow and the coils read 14000 ohms instead of 17 to 20 does anyone think that could be the problem? That is with the caps removed they read in spec.

I don't know the specs off the top of my head but....17-20 sounds like the primary winding, the 12 volt side and the 14000 the secondary side measured directly at the coil where the plug wires are screwed into....For one coil....Same for the second one too.

The weak spark can be poor/burnt ignition wires/caps....Easily replaced...Before replacing, verify there is actually,at least, 12.5 volts on the coil main power wire while running the engine at 1000 rpm...
Low voltage can lend to a weak spark...
