What fuel filter?

Postby jtimgrant » Sun Jun 23, 2013 7:25 pm

Does anyone have a part number for the fuel filter they are using. With all the fuel system problems I am having I am changing everything. The fuel filter I have now is one from Randakk but my fuel pump had a lot of rusty debris so I'm replacing the filter too. It seems that the debris is somehow getting through the filter. I cleaned the tank but it had very little trash in it.

When I changed fuel lines and filter this past winter, I just went to the auto parts store and got one with the same size OD that fit the new lines. Heard to many bad things about the Emgo filter, not sure if it is true or not.

I ended up taking the tank out and flushing it. It isn't bad just some loose settlement in the bottom. I think it would be okay left alone but I really don't want to take these carbs off again. I went to Oreily's and picked up one of their filters. The manager is friend of mine and he uses these same filter on his tractors so I think I will be okay with it. Got some new gas hose. Cleaned the trash out of the fuel pump with compressed air then hooked it to a battery and ran fresh gas through it. No residue was present. So not much left to replace. Putting a new differential seal in while it's down. Now to get it all back together again.

Definitely true. See: Emgo fuel filter failers
