timing belt adjustment

Postby maxxx1000 » Mon Jun 24, 2013 7:38 am

left timing belt too tight, the adjuster is all the way up i ground some of the adjuster plate and extended the bolt slot so i would have more adjustmet and still too tight, the belt i took off was the same way it wore out adjuster bearings. the only thing i can think is maybe it has to thick head gasket? anyone ever hear of this happening? it did have honda belts the right size.
thx.........

That's just strange...you definitely should not have to grind anything. Do you have a picture you can post?

no i didnt take any pics. i have been riding it, it wines alittle but not as bad as before. the bearings on the adjuster wont last too long im sure but when i change it out next time i will get some pics for you.. its the strangest thing. i dont understand how one side can be ok and not the other side.
it looks like the case was replaced with a used one and prob reused all internals. it had a cracked cylinder is why. do you know if they make a belt 1 tooth longer?
