Hi All
I am a new member so I think I am in the right place to ask a question. If not let me know.
I have a 1984 Interstate GL1200 . Do any one know if there is a safety switch on this bike to prevent you from starting off when the side stand is down
Thanks
Thanks to all that replied to my question.
Can somebody let me know if I need to cancel the post when I get my answer and if so how do I do this.

I don't have a 1200 so can't answer your question, but just wanted to welcome you to the club. I'm sure someone with a 1200 will answer you shortly.

I would have thought so, but I just had a look through both the GL1200 service and owners manuals, and don't find mention of one anywhere. That surprises me, as my old 1984 750 Interceptor had one, odd that the Goldwing did not.

There is no kick stand safety switch on the 84 Interstate.

I made one using a couple of red flashing LED's and a magnetic door switch.
A little messing epoxying the switch on but it works fine but I didnt wire it into the bike to shut the engine of just to flash the LED's

I did the exact same thing to my 1100. I used one LED instead of two, and I epoxied a sealed magnetic reed switch on. You can see it in this thread.

I used your idea when formulating mine, I asked the electronics guy for the regulator, he asked me what it was for, I described it and he told me to use a resistor and 12v LED's and handed me a packet of two for about $1.00 and the 12v flashing LED's were $1.50.
The magnetic switch I coated with black insulating goo (don't know the name). It's been through some real heavy rain and not given me any problems.

The flashing LED's I think I actually got from Radio Shack, and they were 5 volt, so that's why I used the 5 volt regulator.
