New bike 85 LTD a couple of questions

Post by jra1100 » Fri Jul 19, 2013 6:19 pm

I just rode my new to me 85 LTD back to Iowa from Pennsylvania, 800 plus miles. Butt is tired, not used to the long rides any more!!! This bike is GREAT, so much better than my 79 Wing. It has more buttons than an Amish virgins dress. Getting to know them all. I have been looking for the owners manual, and there are all sorts of places that say FREE download, and when you get to the site, they want money. Is there such a thing as a free download, and if so where can I find it. I don't mind paying for one, but the idea of sucking you in with FREE and then having to pay ticks me off. Other thing is that here or someplace I was told to ask about lubing the rear gear. I don't have a clue as to how to do this, and how often it should be done. The bike has 77K on it and the previous owner said that he hadn't done it. I have ordered the Clymer service manual, and I'm sure that there is something in there about it, but I was just getting curious. I am so pleased with this bike, and really want to keep it looking good and running good. Thanks for your help, and any other advice I should know. What a great tool this site is. J R Ackley

I purchased one from eBay. Couldn't find one to download.

My friends tell me I can launch the space shuttle from my ltd.

Good luck with it.

Hello, they are probably referring to the splines in the rear drive, the best time to do them, is when you are replacing the
rear tire, as the splines can be seen then. Honda recommends using moly paste 60

I usually have a dealer replace the tires, and I take a tube of moly 60 with me, and ask the dealer to grease the splines with it.

This stuff, goes a long way, you dont need to use a lot of it, to get results.

Good luck with your LTD they are a nice bike
