Fork Seal replacement and rebuild

Postby just winging it » Sat Aug 03, 2013 11:04 am

I have been a slow speed wobble upon breaking and at riding speeds. I have read the threads and it seems nobody has a definitive answer with regards to the cause. I just ordered new bearings and seals for my 84 GL1200 Aspencade. Is there anything else I should consider, tires are good. Also someone suggested I could use ATF instead of fork oil? Thoughts.

If you ownly get the wobble when you are braking, I would say that your problem is with something connected to the brakes. Maybe one of the rotors is warped.

I used the cheapest ATF I could find at Wally World, and it works just fine, and a lot less dive than the 30yr old stuff in the forks.
