gl1200 odometer

Postby neonhack » Fri Aug 23, 2013 2:38 pm

My odometer has stopped at 99,999.9 km and will not move past to the 100 thousand area. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Speed and trip meter are digital and the separate odometer is in the dash but separate from the trip meter(s). Trip meter and speed work fine, just the odometer is not functioning.

Ah ha, not being around the 1200s much, I do remember now that you say that, having seen they are separate. The gearing could be stripped in the odometer. They do dry out if not lubed once a year or two. It may also have plastic gears that may be fatigued. But then....you said you have the digital speedo, which is electronic driven. I have not had one apart to know how the mileage is racked up, I didn't pull apart the 83 Aspencade speedo, digital speedo and analog miles like yours to that depth to remember how it works.
You will need to pull it apart to diagnosis it. Unless someone comes along knowing this.
Let us know what you find with a reply, that will possibly help someone later doing a search
