87 1200i over heating problem

Post by 1programer » Mon Sep 02, 2013 4:13 pm

I have been trying to solve a over heating problem for to long. This is what I have done so far.
replaced the thermostat twice.
had the radiator flushed.
replaced the cooling fan.
removed the thermostat . ( this helped as long as I keep moving)
the water pump has steel impellers.
new cap.
Is there anything that I am missing? If not....anyone want to buy a parts bike?

You said you replaced the fan. Question: Have you tested the operation of the fan thermo. switch? Is the fan turning on when needed?

I wired it to a switch. I turn it on when it reachs temp gage half way point. Or if I am in stop and go traffic.

Check for a head gasket failing. Check your engine vacuum and cyl compressions
