Can't figure this ticking noise

Post by jtimgrant » Mon Sep 16, 2013 9:55 pm

I posted earlier about this. It is strange. A ticking/clicking/tapping something like a wrist pin that is not heard until cruising speed 50 to 65 mph or accelerating. Ticking stops when throttle is backed off even a small amount. It sounds like a lifter ticking but a lifter wouldn't stop when throttle is closed . . would it? I'm wondering if it could be an exhaust leak too. The copper "squash" gaskets are new but the exhaust itself is not so good.

Thanks

Tim

Often an exhaust leak can be heard as a ticking noise, so yes, being that it's disappearing when you let off the throttle, it could certainly be that.

Thanks WingAdmin. I'm hoping so.
