brake master cylinder glass replacement

Postby RobH » Sun Sep 29, 2013 2:17 pm

I just wanted to let the forum know of a great resource. The sight window on the brake master cylinder on my '86 Interstate was basically opaque, with what appeared to be crud on it. I tried to gently scrape off the "crud" with my fingernail, and wound up punching a hole in the plastic window. Whoops! I couldn't get a NOS replacement, and replacing the assembly was looking extremely expensive (though i did find aftermarket Chinese replacement assemblies on Ebay for about $35-$40). My local dealer turned me on to newrivercyclesalvage.com. For $15, I was able to order an exact replacement glass online, and have it in 2 days (shipping included). It came with very simple instructions, and after picking up a can of brake cleaner and a tube of sealant, I was able to have it installed in a matter of a few minutes. I let it sit 24 hours to set, and I was in business! Good people to deal with, and fast and exact service.

What type of sealant did you use?
