Throttle Position Sensor

Postby TedFichialos » Tue Oct 01, 2013 7:50 am

Good morning everyone, it is like Christmas around my house today I have finally found a TPS for my 85 GW LTD 1200. My bike has been down for almost 4 months while I have been looking for the TPS. I am sure hoping that is what the problem is, well at least that is what my local Honda shop is telling me it is. One of our members gave me the contacts when I first started looking for the TPS and I would like to share those contacts with anyone that might be looking for any older parts.

The symtoms I was having on my bike was when I let off on the throttle my bike would die. It will start and run very rich and burn gas like crazy. I got a second opinion and was told that it sounded like the TPS also, has anyone else ever had trouble with their TPS and do these symtoms sound like the TPS?

Thank you

I have read about TPS problems but they are usually tested before just replacing and hoping it fixes the problem. The manual shows how to test them.

My Honda Dealership service department has diagnosed it to be the TPS. I was just concerned lol.

Well good luck.Keep if posted on how it turns out.Good or bad. Were all interested in the outcome and how your Dealer is at diagnosing and fixing your bike.

How'd you make out with your TPS? I also have an 85 LTD and am curious on this, as it may be something I may run into in the future, and I want to hear that you are back out and riding, because ultimately that's what it's all about.
