Clutch Master Cyl and Slave unit

Postby thomased » Sat May 01, 2010 3:52 pm

I rebuilt the master and slave clutch assembly and now my bike clutch wont work. I put the seals in as the picture shows and I then reversed them to see if they would work but it didn't. The clutch won't build pressure to work the slave cyl and work the clutch. The clutch worked 2 years ago when I put it in the garage but doesn't now. Help what can I try next. I blead 2 bottles of brake fluid and I ran the hose from the slave cyl to the reservour on the master cyl. so there would be no air leaks. This is on an 1984 Honda Aspencade. I tried to do the rocking the bike in gear to release the clutch but it shifts fine from neutral to other gears.
HELP
Thanks
Ed

I nearly gave up on mine when I fitted the 1200 hydro clutch. It seemed that no amount of bleeding would get it there, but keep at it! It will eventually bleed the air out.
Try tying the lever back to within about a 1/2" of the bars, turn the bars so the the master cylinder is at it's highest and leave it for a day or so. Surprisingly, it sometimes bleeds the air out itself!
Doing that along with the manual bleeding, it took me two days to get it to work!

'Impossible' is just a level of difficulty! The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask first!

Probably talking about the Mity Vac. I'll never bleed anything without one ever again! You can get them at pretty well any auto parts store, or cheaper online.
