Rear wheel woes

Postby seasicksid » Wed Oct 16, 2013 3:09 pm

I had a rear wheel and tyre delivered today that I bought off of ebay. The seller said it would fit my 84 Interstate. It came as wheel only. No disc or drive spline. The pline is the problem. I tried to fit mine, the studs line up perfect but the hub on the wheel centre is too big. Anything I can do with it? Send it back and try again?

I'm not sure if this will help but,It sounds like you got a part from a gl1200....maybe...
By the book, there are different ones for different years and models.....
This is right from the parts manual....I guess if it doesn't fit,you got the wrong one...
Many gl1200 parts are interchangeable between years and models...many are not....Unless you want to replace the whole rear end to match the wheel you got,it may be easier to contact the seller for an exchange...

Another reason I don't buy off of E-bay

Actually it's not another reason because I don't have a first reason, I just don't know how to use pay-pal. What I wanted to say is it's best to see what you are buyng if you don't know the buyer personally. I am just venturing into buying used parts for my 1500 and am having problems finding reliable stuff on and off line. I can't imagine parts for a 1200...... good luck....I guess you gotta be able to take a little loss on an item if it's rare to find....it's rough to love something old, I can't imagine what these guys that rebuild cars go thru.....they must love this 'dealing crap' where as we buy something and expect it to be right......

Many thanks. It'll have to go back. Turns out the wheel is from a 1990, not an 84 as stated

I bought over $700 in parts all from E-Bay, no regrets, fast shipping. Hey, stuff can go wrong anywhere on used parts.
Motorcycles:
'81 Honda CBX 1050 (current and forever)
'03 Honda RC 51 1000 (current and forever)
'75 CB 750 K3 (for sale) good running bike
'86 Honda Gold Wing Aspencade, (the Ratwing)
too many more to list..................

I too have bought over $1400. of parts off ebay for my 87 Aspy without any problems. Just need to know what you need and what you are buying! Wasn't for ebay, my wing would never be on the road, dealers wont touch bikes 10 years old and older around here, plus OEM is unavailable after 10 years or so on many bikes.
