how many ohms should be read on the ohm meter coming out of the pulse generator? The bike is a 1200 interstate '84. Also where can I find new pulse generators if it ends up being the problem.

The pulser resistance should be 1,1-1,3 kOhm (@20°C, 68°F). In general, if you crank the engine, you have to read at least 1,7 Volts (AC) on the coil. The air gap between the rotor and the pulser should be 0,4-1,1mm (0,016-0,043in).
