bought a 1984 gl1200(this is the first time we are allowed to inport1200"s as the LAW says only 30 years and older allowed) Back to the bike it has 14000 miles on it , half an hour ago the guy that is looking after the bike before shipping informed me that its not charging !! he took it to some one who replaced the connector , and still the bike not charging .looks like i have joined the :no charging club: the guy who checked the charging wants $ 1250 to fit external alternator!!!!!!! or $1750 to replace the stator.??
does ANYONE know someone that can repair it cheaper in the NEW JERSEY area i can pay for the repair via PAYPAL. THIS IS A BIKE THAT i HELPED A FRIEND BUY... not feeling to good about it!!

Sorry, the full conversion kit cost about $600 and it takes about 10-15 hours to do if you have done before. $1200 for the total job is reasonable.

according to the Honda Service Centre in N.J. it will take 5 hours to do at $100 an hour!
They have fitted a camshaft alternator kit before and they seem to think that fitting the "poor man conversion" will take the same amount of time.

If they can give you that quote in writing I'd take it!
