Output shaft oil seal is more than likely bad. (In the engine) Can you tell if this is motor oil or gear lube?

Had the same problem on my 85 aspy. There are two seals where the drive shaft fits in the rear drive if you pulled the drive shaft out or moved it around to much you can lose the seals. The seals allow diff. fluid to lube the shaft gear as it mates the the drive, but wont let it leak out into the drive shaft housing. Most likely the seals are what is causing your leak. I fixed mine but using a good drive out of mt 84 aspy parts bike.I did get the seals from a local Honda dealer but sold the rear drive and seals to another rider on this site for him to fix his bike. Hope this helps and if you can get a repair Manuel for you bike it will help show you the parts and seals. If not I may be able to help with that.--------------------Hal

Did the same thing here. I would suggest that while you have out to replace the drive sjaft seal i would change the out put seal in the back of the transmission. I get my parts at http://www.servicehonda.com/ also they have parts guide. Also try this one also http://www.cheapcycleparts.com/ Also while I was in I put new o-rings in the final drive.
