HELP Caliper question - GL 1200 Aspencade 1986 US

Post by Damgaard » Tue Jan 28, 2014 12:53 pm

Hi

I am restoring my GL1200, but piston diameter is different in the front calipers. One is 25mm bore and the other is 32mm. Is that normal or has a previous owner mounted different bore size calipers ?

Help needed.

Regards from Denmark
Lars

This is normal. The right caliper is linked to the rear brakes, so it needs to handle less fluid volume (because it is being divided between two calipers). Therefore, it has a smaller diameter bore/piston diameter. The left caliper is controlled solely by the brake lever, so it has a larger bore/piston diameter.
