Newbie from Arkansas

Postby jhngardner367 » Sun Feb 23, 2014 11:01 pm

Hi !
My name is John, and I'm in the process of restoring my 1984 GL1200 I.
I just moved from Michigan to Arkansas,Last year(Feb 23),and I brought this bike with me .I gave $250 for it.
It starts/runs well,but has a leak at the water pump,leaking forks/shocks,etc,but I love a challenge !
I,ve been edging around the forum for a few days, and I'm sure I can get any help I need, here .

What Todd said!!! You don't have to be crazy to hang out here, we'll train you ourselves!
Welcome to the best place to get help for the Wing. I've had a lot of fun just reading about the different experiences as well as the helpful tips in getting my own Wing on the road. I never would have attempted doing the things I have without the encouragement from these guys. Keep us posted on the progress, and post pictures whenever possible.

Welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy your 1200. I owned two of them and loved them.
One problem you may encounter is getting replacement parts. Some parts are no longer stocked by Honda but I am sure the 1200 owners here can point you to parts sources if you need them.
Good Luck with your repairs.

This is my second 'Wing .
My previous was also an'84,but I sold it because I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease .5 yrs later,a specialist found it was a severe allergy to non-dairy substitutes !
So,when I had a chance to get this one, I jumped at it.
As for parts, they aren't too scarce, yet. Just try to find parts for a '67 BSA !
