1984 1200 Carbs

Bike is hesitating under load and full throttle but runs smooth , starts and Idles ok. Plugs and tail pipe black with carbon and fuel consumption is high end of normal( running tooo rich) . I checked the pilot screws and all 4 were fully seated!? When I try backing them out to spec 3 1/2 turns I can't go out more than 1/2 turn before they start dripping fuel. I'm open to suggestions here , but was thinking of sending them to Mike Nixon ( goldwingcarbs.com) for full and pricey rebuild , has anybody out there used him with good results.

Are you sure you're not opening the carb bowl drains instead of the idle screw?
If I'da known it would last this long,I'da taken better care of it.

i have a 85 interstate and its due for its carbs to be SYNCHRONIZATION. where can i get a vacuum tester??
