Gl1200 Trans backlash

Postby hotwire » Thu May 01, 2014 9:33 pm

Hey, guys. Wonderin' if anyone knows how much backlash a 1200 ought to have in overdrive? I've noticed what seems to be a little lost motion while letting off and giving throttle. I put her on the center stand and put bike in gear, moving the rear wheel back and forth, moves all the way up drive line. In other words, the extra motion is not being generated from slack in the final drive or wheel splines, nor the drive shaft or U-Joint, but appears to be from trans and out. Can't find anything about it in manual I have, just wondering if any you fellow wingers got a clue? Appreciate any and all advice, info, and comments.......'Nuff said....Hotwire. P.S. bike's pushin' about 100 grand...miles, that is! :D :D Thanks, guys!!

The reason you cannot find anything in the manual is because it is not a valid test or check of anything except that it is in gear.
