Coolant temp sensor

Postby rzaugg » Wed Jun 25, 2014 12:01 pm

Hi All,

Got an 84 Aspencade, actually I have two, the sending unit for the coolant temp gauge has failed on one of them. The sensor that I have has two flat blade style posts. One vertical and the other horizontal. Other bike has the same. Honda dealer computer can only come up with a listing for a single round post style connection. Rumor has it that they built them with both. Can anyone give me the part number for the one that I need, or tell me for sure that the single post style will work with the digital dash. Modifying the harness won't be that big of a deal, as long as it will be accurate. If I try it and it doesn't work, I buy a $58.00 paperweight.

FYI, Bike had an overheating problem with PO, and it is the wife's bike when I'm done and CANNOT afford any breakdowns.

Look at part #11 and #12... One is called a switch and the other is a sender...

12 is the sensor for the fan.

11 is the one that I am dealing with, the problem is that part number comes up with a sensor that has a single round post on it, and mine has two, blade style posts, and a molded connector to plug it in. Recently I was told that my switch wasn't available anymore and that I would have to change the wiring and it would work just fine.

Wish me luck.
