Had new rear wheel mounted. Took it back home and put back on bike. Kept track of all spaces and so forth. Upon completion the right side of the tire was way too close to the swing arm , about 1/4 inch , while the left side of course was further away. I took pics before to ensure I placed everything back the correct way.
Are these all the spaces ? I checked repair manual and it appears to be slightly different. So the tire has shifted to the right about 1/2 to 3/4 inch .
What has caused this. I don't have any missing spacers.
Rear wheel- strange things are happening!!

Re: Rear wheel- strange things are happening!!
See the two small spacers. Sorry, for some reason my pics come out upside down inside out turned and then some.
In the repair manual, it only shows one small spacer that fits in between wheel and caliper bracket.
This bike also had a spacer between the caliper bracket and the swing arm.

Re: Rear wheel- strange things are happening!!
When mounted in the swing arm, the wheel/tire will be quite close on the right side and have quite a bit of space on the left side. There are only the two spacers (that you show), one between the swingarm and caliper bracket, and another between the bracket and the wheel hub assembly. The orientation of the spacers in your picture looks correct.

The angle isn't the best, but there is quite a bit of space, compared to right side.

Re: Rear wheel- strange things are happening!!
Thanks skier for verifying this for me, especially taking the pics. I now have peace of mind, this was driving me nuts. I think my replacement shinko might be adding to less space , but hey, the wheel turns and that's all that counts.
Thanx again, will put wheel back on and move forward

Skier, ya might want to inspect the right side of your tire... Appears to be a rather healthy cut in the sidewall...

Click on the picture to zoom in - you'll see it's a rubber nub, and the shadow behind it looks like a cut. It fooled me too!Ed Z wrote:Skier, ya might want to inspect the right side of your tire... Appears to be a rather healthy cut in the sidewall...
