Power Problems

Postby DannyD » Wed Jul 16, 2014 4:39 pm

I have an 85 Aspy that I just put an engine on. This engine supposedly only had 18000 to match up with the bike that has 18000 on it. The bike is a carb model & the replacement engine was previously fuel injected. I also have I suppose it to be a flashing yellow check engine light below tach readout that is also not reading correctly as it jumps all over the place. Any input would be very helpful as I have checked all I know to check, coils, wires, plugs etc. The engine seems to run fine but has a SERIOUS lack of power. I'm thinking ecm is bad

Well just by switching from fuel injected to carberated you will loose horses. There are ways to get some of that back, but it takes time to mess around with things. Are all of the vacuum lines hooked up?And the ttiming is different between those two engines. It may take you a little time to get it running smoothly, good luck. Ride safe.

That makes sense about the timing, now how to get it right?
