Nasty rattle

Post by Free58 » Wed Aug 13, 2014 4:13 pm

On my GL1200, on the back rim there is a large metal plate or shield type, piece mounted just infront of Rear break caliper, left side of rim behind saddle bag. Mine is starting rattle relentlessly, and is driving me crazy, if I step on rear brake peddle is stops rattling completely, but starts up again as soon as brake peddle released, A.), what is it? B.) is there a quick fix to solve the rattle until the end of riding season, when probably back wheel will have to be removed to fix or replace this part, off season. Help please, easiest / cheapest way, would be ideal!

the shield is held onto the rear bracket by 2 small bolts. The shield also holds the rear brake line in place, protecting it from tire rub.
