1985 GL1200 LTD Headlight won't come on.

The wiring on the GL1200 LTD is fairly straight forward. And having done many electrical repairs over the years, this one took awhile to figure out. Power at the fuse, to and from the starter switch as well as power all way up into the steering head, but no power at the Hi-Low switch. Somewhere hidden in the wiring harness is a broken wire. Solution: cut blue w/white wire under right handle bar and solder in a new wire and lead it around the steering head and cut the blue w/white wire under left handle bar and solder in connection. Tuck it into wire loom and you now have headlights that work as they should.

I did something similar on my GL1100. I don't remember the circuit, but I had something that just stopped working, and the break in the wire was "somewhere" buried in the harness. I gave up trying to find it and just ran a new wire, it worked fine.
