I have this chrome piece and cannot figure out where it goes. Could be aftermarket. I have a 1987 gl1200 interstate.There is a tab on each end where it is connected. At first I thought it was an aftermarket headlight visor , but negative on that.
Also, looks like an emblem was once on it.

its aftermarket looks to be right shape for a rear fender ext

found one on ebay. Its called a "chrome bracket cover", but I still cant seem to make it fit anywhere on the bike.
anyone have one on there's that could take a pic.

I don't know, but it sure looks like the headlight visor that was on my '87 gl1200 when I bought. I removed it and sold it, as I didn't like the look. Here is a stock picture of what mine looked like.
