upgrading the dash speakers '86 GL1200A

I need some tips... How to remove the speaker grills? What size speakers? (I am guessing 4") Everything else like splicing the wires and things I am fine with doing myself. I am looking @ Polk Audio 3 1/2 or 4 inch 2-way speakers from Crutchfield, they are marine rated to withstand moisture, just want a crisper sound. Any help would be great! :)

If it's the same as the 1100 (and I think it is), the speakers are fastened on with wingnuts from within the fairing. The front turn signal lights come out to give you access. Have a look at this, which shows the method involved: How to replace your mirrors
