Ummm, do Goldwings have two fuel pumps?

Postby mykobayashimaru » Sat Sep 13, 2014 8:44 pm

Still learning about my Goldwing and have been getting confused about the different parts. I have been looking at online parts diagrams and the parts manuals on this site. As far as I can tell I have two fuel pumps. One has a tube going to the gas cap and one going to air. The other "pump" has tubes going to the petcock and one to the carbs. See the picture is below, the one looks like it is stock with the chrome cover. The other might be for something else? The parts diagrams shows pumps for both locations. Anyways, anyone know what is going on?

The 1200s only have one fuel pump that is the one on the right in your picture. The canister to the left is most likely for emission control as the California models had them .

Your fuel is not OEM. It is a replacement pump for a Honda Accord. A common replacement, and cheaper. I've had one on my bike for a couple of years now.

I am wondering if I can remove the other item and put the fuel pump under the chrome shroud? The emissions control unit is only half hooked up so I would like to ditch it and clean up the engine area. I am guessing since it isn't hooked up I can remove it without issues?

They might look at you with disgust if you go to California, but yes, you can disconnect it without harm.
