make model and year

I bought a 1986 1200i Goldwing but something doesn't add up when I go to check vin# and engine number can anyone help with identity vin# is 1HFSC141XGA200953 ENGINE# SC14E2601083 is this actually an 1986 and is this engine actually correct

Welcome to the group. The VIN is accurate to what it says it is. G says it is an 86. The engine number should however have a 261 instead of the 260. That being said, SC14E is more important for the group than the 7 other numbers.

Kind of an odd situation, but shouldn't effect getting parts. The LTD's and such were different, but most things are the same between years and models.

The 84 that I had, when my dealer put the VIN into the Honda system, came up with nothing. (As in "not a Honda motorcycle") Still did not make a difference for parts. And it still ran and drove perfectly.

thanks so much for the response I have also found out that the engine is from California and the frame was from outside of California the 261 represents built in cali where as the 260 represents outside of California . so basically I have a 1200i frame from outside of California and an engine from inside California. I appreciate the help.
