3 problem: starter/air compressor/tire puncture

Postby Senkoguy1 » Wed Oct 08, 2014 2:39 pm

The starter: I believe my starter relay located by the battery is going bad because the starter stays engaged once in a while. I want to replace the relay but NOT for $65+. I used to be a certified 12V specialist and used a Bosche relay to do many many things on a car but I'm wondering if they are strong enough to handle power from the battery to the starter.

Air compressor: Problem is pumping up a tire. All other functions work (shock filling etc) but not the air for tire filling. Cleaned switch, tests good at plug with meter but there's a small ceramic circuit breaker looking item that shows continuity with switch on. I have continuity at the plug when I push the switch, wiggled wires everywhere but can't locate problem.

Recently I replaced my tires and went out to a flat one day after bike was sitting for over a week. Found a very small, very sharp piece of steel as the culprit. Hole is the size of a thump tack so tire repair plug won't work. Any suggestions that are safe at high speed?

Starter relay: There are tons of aftermarket starter relays available for under $10: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R4 ... y&_sacat=0

Compressor: The seals get old and tired. They can generate enough pressure and volume to pump up the tiny volume inside shocks, but not the relatively large volume of tires. My solution was (and still is) to carry a tiny air compressor that I use for just tires.

Tire: The only suggestion I would make is to replace the tire, unfortunately.

Found a relay on ebay that replaces what I have for $15, can't complain at all. I have a small compressor I can carry as the leak holds for about 10 days or so so thanks for the tip.
