timing belts

Postby 1oilcan2 » Wed Oct 08, 2014 6:56 pm

Hi I am going to replace the timing belts on my wing when I purchased it last year I took it to goldwing guy here and had him check it out he installed a new front tire and changed all the fluids along with the brake pads. the gentleman that I purchased it from also included a set of new timing belts. FENNOR 3492070 I have never heard of this brand of belt, they are made in Germany, the only thing I can find on these belts is a warning on TDI forum warningeveryone not to use them as they are inferior quality, just wondering if any one else has used this brand

I have not heard of this belt. I did my research, as I am doing the same and for the price point and how important these belts are to the bike. I bought a set from here http://www.saber-cycle.com/store/product29.html They seem to be as good or better than oem. I think if you are in question of the belts you have get ones you know are new and in perfect shape, better safe than sorry.

First word of caution - DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM SABRE CYCLE, especially belts. Made in China junk. Sorry Rolilk.

Buy the Gates T070 belts. You can get them on Amazon or from Rock Auto. I see you are in Edmonton. Are you doing this yourself?

Other options are:

Gates - #5043 or #T070 (2 ea.)
NAPA - #250070 (2 ea.)
Goodyear - #40070 (2 ea.)

Never replace any critical component with a Saber Cycle part - and ESPECIALLY timing belts. They are inferior, cheap Chinese knockoffs. It is not worth trusting the very life of your engine to cheap Saber Cycle garbage products. For timing belts, buy OEM, or Gates/NAPA (same belt) - all are known, brand-name, quality belts.

thanks for the info.I will not likely buy on line as the freight to ship to Canada is in most cases atrocious. yes I plan on doing this myself with a little help from a friend.my home is in Spruce Grove which is just west of Edmonton.the closest Honda dealer is riverside in St Albert about 1/2 hour away.there is a uap-napa outlet in the grove.

As I said you can get them on Amazon. Maybe I should have said Amazon Canada.

Here you go. Two left in stock. $10 + change.

The NAPA belts will likely be your best bet, and are top quality.

I just bought a pair of Gates T070, which also makes Napa belts, from RockAuto.com for $13.50 for the pair + shipping. I searched the web and found no one to come close to the price. Don't buy cheap[ un-knowen brands unless you want a new engine.
