84 GL1200 Mod

Postby SAMD » Wed Oct 08, 2014 10:11 pm

Hi Winges,

Has anyone modified a GL1200 Interstate to GL1200 Standard? If so, would you share the experience? I'm very interested in what you have done.

Here is what I'm looging for:
- Remove all Fairings
- replace tank, handle bar, lights, seat (to solo)
- paint

thanks - Sam

there are a few parts that an interstate or aspencade don't share with a necked 1200 like the faux tank and rear fender, turn signals also

I thought about doing this on my 1100. Have no clue where to get headlight bucket... and other "stuff"... could figure out the turn signals okay. It still won't be the bike I want, so I'll wait until I find "the one"...

If you transform your 1200 to a "Standard" please post progress pictures.
I am wrong as often as I am right concerning what is wrong with someone else' motorcycle without having seen the machine in person. Guessing with limited information, as to the source of the trouble, is sketchy at best.

Hawkeye, I think the Headlight might be easy to find from a bike breaker such as Woodbine Cycle Salvage in Iowa because there wer so many 1100s built as standards with out the fairing. You would have to get the brackets with it to mount it to the forks.
