Any Clymer's or Hayne's manual will have the directions. Removed all the plastics and bolt-ons from my GL1200 Aspencade about 18 months ago to do a detailed restoration. Got laid off and didn't get back to it until six weeks ago. My wife didn't think I'd remember where everything went; even with a manual.

Best I remember, you need pull back the rubber on the mirrors and removed the bolts/mirrors. This should give access to the cowl cover. remove the cowl cover and you should have access to two bolts. Remove the bolts and the windshield should come right off. Just remember how it goes back together.

A manual is good, but best way to learn about the bike is to start unbolting.
