Gl1200 I mix brake pad compisition?

Postby bluesman46.2009 » Mon Jun 07, 2010 11:05 am

Hi guys

I bought a new rotor and EBC FA 69/HH pads from my local Honda dealer for my 1986 GL 1200I. I ordered the standard EBC FA69/3 organic pads for my 2 front rotors that are still in good shape. Can I use these 2 different pad compisitions this way or should I go with the same at all 3 rotors?

Thanks for your help.

I wouldn't worry about having different pads on front vs rear - at least on my 1100, because you can modulate from front to rear yourself. On a 1200, with the linked brakes, it might be a different story. Anyone with a 1200 or linked 83 1100 have an opinion?

I considered changing over to the non-organic EBC pads, but after some consideration of the expense of replacing rotors as well, I stuck with the organics. What I can tell you is, the "grab" factor with the non organic pads is rather different. IMHO, I would not mix pads, particularly with our linked brakes.
