Broken knobs, good fix anyone?

Postby alanc1100 » Sat Nov 15, 2014 1:42 am

Hi all,
The knobs on my auto-volume unit are cracked and broken (inside where they grip the "D" shafts). Besides super glue, anyone have a good fix for them?

Honda discontinued them like a decade ago. I have only been able to find one source online, Saber Cycle, who I really don't wanna do business with. Besides, they charge $10 per knob plus shipping. Sorry, but I ain't gonna pay that.

I remember seeing somewhere online aluminum knobs being offered. I can't remember where...
Anyways, any info on a better fix or source would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone, your wisdom on this site has been invaluable,
Alan

Did you check www.hondarestoration.com? He has a lot of new old stock.

Hi It looks like most the knobs come with the fader attached on ebay, never tried this but wonder if a bit of blue tac might help. it might tighten the fit but still be able to removed if need be.

I guess it couldn't hurt. I'll give it a try tomorrow. Thank you!

Also try a Google search for used motorcycle parts. Unfortunately, a lot of those parts will be in the same shape that yours are, but you never know.

Tried Radio Shack and many other sites. When searching hondarestoration.com
One of the related sites had them for $6 per with free shipping.

On another note, I found Gorilla glue worked like a charm! Could not source BlueTak.

Thanks guys for the help!

Alan
