Is there an aftermarket replacement for a 1984 interstate looks like mine is toast. Or r they repairable. Thanks Rick

well you can get them new like this, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ignition-switch ... 3d&vxp=mtr
or if yours has the three screws on the back,like this one, http://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-1987-Honda ... ce&vxp=mtr then you can just change the electrical part of the switch and keep your key.

Rick, did you open it up and see if the plastic actually melted, melted wires, etc. If it didn't melt down, try the "how to article" on cleaning all the contacts. Could save you some $$$.

Check with your local Honda dealer because there was a recall on the ignition switch.
Honda replaced mine for free, the recall does not expire.
I had the switch replaced about two years ago.

THE IGNITION SWITCH WIRING HARNESS WILL BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE SWITCH COVER. THE COVER IS INSTALLED TO ENSURE PROPER WIRE CONNECTION.
