New tire question

Postby Harp » Thu Jun 17, 2010 8:54 am

I am about to put new tires on my 86 1200 gl. I don't do much long distance highway riding. I do ride a lot of country roads and city riding. I'm wondering whether or not to go with radial tires. Any ideas on what it might cost for tire installation in NE Ohio? Any help would be appreciated.

I can only repeat what I have heard before, the rims on all goldwings (prior to the 1800 model) are too narrow for Radial tyres, plus the suspension is not setup for them. All recomendations that I have seen say to stick with normal bias belted tyres..

+1
Your bike wasn't designed to run radials... you need to run the bias ply.

Thanks all! Guess I'll look for a new service shop as they've been pushing pretty hard for the radials.
