Should I be worried

Post by busdriverdude » Fri Apr 03, 2015 2:45 pm

New kid on the block here. Please offer some advice. I am looking to buy a 1986 Honda Goldwing Interstate GL1200I from a private party. 21500 miles for 3000 dollars. Looks like in good shape. I'm very worried because I been hearing a lot about the stators on these models.....sure has me worried a lot. I called one shop and he said 2 grand. Should I buy it or pass it up. They said there are no issues with the bike. Thank you all so much!

Relax, it's just a bike.... You can look thru the 1200 section on this site and see the Alt. conversion if your worried about the stator, just don't over load the bike with extra lights ect. so the stator holds up.. Yeah, I'd buy it... :D the bike is older so your gonna have some issues sooner or later but the guys are here for when they might occur...Welcome to the site

Well, I guess somebody should tell you....that is a 250,000 plus mile bike.
Oh....don't tell the present owner that.
My exercise bike is a goldwing.
