1986 Aspencade blowing white smoke

Postby tag » Wed Apr 08, 2015 2:09 pm

Recently bought an 86 Aspencade rode it a few times and noticed it is blowing white smoke from the exhaust (probably a blown head gasket). The place I purchased it at (world of Powersports in Peoria Illinois) said it was a good bike didn't know it had a bad head gasket head .
I was wondering if anyone has a pour in head gasket repair for a motorcycle and if anyone has used 1 with success?

White smoke does not automatically mean a blown head gasket.
How long were you running it for?
Are you loosing coolant?
Check for oil overfill?
Pull the plugs to see if you have a clean one.

The seller may not have known the Wing had a blown head gasket. If a blown head gasket is the diagnosis, wether the seller claims they knew or not, it does not change the fact that they sold it to you with a blown head gasket. Age and price can be a risk you take, but they sold it to you as a 'good bike' which it is not if the head gasket has blown. Statutory entitlement of quality and fitness for purpose applies when buying from a business.

Did you ask them if they were prepared to fix the head gasket if it has blown?

It's good to read the seller appears to be m,aking good on their sale of a motorcycle with a faulty head gasket. I hope they do the work for free, as they should, or give you a purchase price refund should you want it.
I am wrong as often as I am right concerning what is wrong with someone else' motorcycle without having seen the machine in person. Guessing with limited information, as to the source of the trouble, is sketchy at best.

Good that they have agreed to fix the problem.
