idle problems

Post by greaser » Sat Apr 18, 2015 1:32 pm

So I finally got the bike I got from a trade to start but it won't idle. If I play with the throttle it will run but I have to keep it above 2500 rpms to run if it drops below that it dies With the choke on or not. It seems to be getting to much fuel as well cause it won't start back to back if I leave the fuel pump hooked up. I have pulled the carbs and cleaned them out and I have replaced the fuel cutoff relay but it still won't idle. Please help I need this bike to run cause we only have one car and my wife and three kids have to get up at 5:30 am every morning to take me to work right now and it's hard on them. Please help me. I'm attaching a pic to show you guys my prodject.

That it runs usually indicates that it has spark and compression.
You might check on how much compression tho.Expect above 120 psi minimum with no more than 5 psi difference between cylinders.Compression test is done with a wide open throttle and no spark.
If it's OK,your idle problem is carb related.Usually the slow speed jets or ports plugged.I always test each one. Then a slide test, fuel level test and a pre-sync before they go back on the bike.
