Charging plug

Postby fcanary » Sat May 02, 2015 2:32 pm

Looking to install a plug for my GPS and possibly my phone charger. Is there a good video, or schematics that shows the proper way to do it? I don't want to " Mickey Mouse" anything that will come back to bite me in the ass later on. Thanks in advance.

Are you just looking to put a 12 VDC socket on the bike or something more elaborate? You can get a socket at any auto parts store. You most likely will have to drill a hole for it to sit in somewhere close to your equipment or another convenient spot and then wire to the switched side of the 12 VDC. Also, put an in line fuse into it for protection of the bike's circuits. Difficulty is only measured by your experience with DC Circuitry. It is a very basic set up. However, there are other ways of doing it too. I am sure some others will share ideas.

You can buy a socket that will accept a cig.lighter or any other type of charger plug like your GPS, etc. that can be attached to the handle bars, ck eBay. the pigtail of the unit are a standard split connector for screws, under your center storage box is a fuse box remove the cover and at the end is a set of screws for assessory items and is fused already, just connect to the screw and you have 12volt hookup.
