Brighter LED and HID light kits

Postby SilverDave » Mon May 04, 2015 1:58 pm

Is there enough room inside a GL1200 Aspencade headlight fixture for one of these :
( without my taking it all apart and measuring )

http://canadiancruisercustomizing.ca/co ... -headlight

or one of these :

Are there really as bright and long throw-down-the-road as the ad implies ?
Are they cheaper anywhere else ?
Are they gonna be too hot for the plastic ?
Is 6000k a good color temperature , or should I go hotter or colder ?

Would an HID kit be a better choice ?

25 watts seems like a good reduction for a comprimised GL1200 stator ... but I don't want to order one only to find it doesn't fit ..

I would be very interested to know if anyone else has tried these, a typical H4 bulb puts out around 1650lm on dip and 1900lm on main, they claim 2400lm on dip and 3600lm on main, that's a huge increase and at less than half the power of a traditional quartz halogen bulb.. I never trust anything I read on the WEB, so would like to know if anyone has used these bulbs and what they thought..

I'm sure they will fit up to the lock lugs. Behind that is 102mm which must be clear so the fan can rotate. And that's IF there is that much room in there. I know the wiring behind my headlight is stuffed full. I'd have to make some major modifications to give the fan and motor room to spin.

I'd still like to hear from someone who has added these LEDs or HIDs to a GL1200 Aspy headlight , re
- Temperature
- clearance
- brightness

They "read" very well, but I'd like to be sure BEFORE purchase .....

I've been using the HID light from cyclemax for about 6 months now. Haven't had any problems with lighting or excessive heat. The lights throw a good distance down the road. Late @ night on a rural interstate, I can see a good 3/4 mile on hibeam. Vehicles approaching the other way don't seem to mind as I haven't experienced any of them flashing their lights at me.

The system is actually designed for Harley. But, it fits right into the OEM housing. I did make a cut in the plastic so my hands could get the wires in a good spot. The ballast is in the fairing, and only the connection wires to the bulb itself is forward of the fairing. So far, I have no complaints about them.

Both of the products listed by the OP are being discontinued by the seller.

Think about that.
