Timing Belts GL1200i

Postby ErnieB » Fri Jun 25, 2010 2:35 pm

Pondering. Ordered new timing belts from Sabercycle.com. Made in China. Looking at current Honda Belts-they look really nice. 46k Miles. Don't know when they were last changed. Question: Leave the Honda belts alone, replace with the China belts or go get some NAPA belts.

Thanks fellows

Go for Honda or NAPA every time, don't touch the chinese ones.. Napa have proved to be very reliable..

Never use Chinese timing belts if you value your engine. A few dollars saved on the timing belts won't be worth the destruction of your engine when they fail.

OEM Honda timing belts are great, so are GATES belts, which is who makes the NAPA belts.

And never buy any critical part on your bike from Saber Cycle. If you can't afford to have the part fail (and it WILL fail), don't buy it from those idiots.

Even better, just don't buy ANYTHING from Saber Cycle. Do a little research on the web and you'll find out why. :)

I was afraid of that. I'll eat my cost and go get Napa/Gates belts.

It's costing me but the novice is learning.

Thank you,

What is the Gates # for a 1985 GL1200 timing belt. Where can I find a manual?
