lost the rubber plug on left side of fairing by the left glovebox

Postby tprender » Wed May 06, 2015 10:30 am

I have an '86 that is now missing that small round rubber plug. Not sure if to post this in the forsale or here. I lost the small rubber plug that is on the left side of the fairing next to the glovebox and the opening. That small piece of filler on the left side and at the top is a about 1 in rubber plug that came out after doing some work. Is there something that can be used to fill this hole? Or does someone have an extra plug setting around.

I think you're talking about this?

You could probably replace it with something like this, which you can get at any decent hardware store:

part number is 39243-MG9-951 this one has the slot that allows the head set lead to come through if needed.

Went out yesterday looking for a replacement. Started at Menards, then Fastenal, local auto parts store, ended up at a True Value hardware store. They had a draw full of plugs that fit perfect for $1. Problem is now fixed.

I would have suggested True Value right off the bat - that's where I always get that kind of stuff.
