Noise filter

Postby Right Winger » Sun Jun 27, 2010 5:03 pm

I am trying to find this so called noise filter on my 85 LTD, I just replaced the stator and I am trying to locate it just to check it. Did the LTDs even have one I guess is what I am asking ? I don't see the 8P connector the manual refers to. I have the Honda shop manual the and the supplement manual wiring schematic the whole kit and kabbootle. Everything refers to a noise filter. This thing is suppposed to be an intergral part of the charging system which is why I'm so concerned

If I remember correctly, the noise filter is installed right next to the rectifier/regulator, which is underneath the false tank, mounted on the left side of the frame. You have to remove the false tank to get to it.

 False tank removed R/R removed that's the first place I looked for it 8-) Geeze I've had this bike all apart when I replaced the stator. I never even put the false tank back on yet . It is not there

Have a look at this thread - it has both parts diagrams and pictures in it, showing the noise filter on the GL1200.

I know when I got my 85 Aspy new in 85 there was no filter on it but I complained about headset noise and the shop installed one from Honda, it never did much good though.
I managed to get one of the last ones from J&M and that one worked OK
I have an external alternator on now and dont get too much interference, I can live with what I do get.
