I have an alt. from a 89 Geo , but I need to know what size pulley that is to go on the crank also what size bolt to run that pulley on. the wires I have. any help would let me put my bike back on the road for the stater is not putting out ...battery will not charge.

i was going to do this to my GL1100, but i put in a new stator instead. don't feel bad, i didn't have the 600 dollars needed for the conversion kit either. you can start by checking out this video for the alternator conversion for the GL 1200.....viewtopic.php?f=12&t=23842

good luck with it, keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks for your tip on the link. I really don't want to pull my motor to put in stater...I will do the fit and refit til I can get it right and will post what works.

'mornin Cham:

glad i was able to help in a small way. let us know how it turns out. if you go thru the "how-to" articles, you might find some more useful tips on how to do the conversion. here's another one you might want to look at...viewtopic.php?f=11&t=14362

The link you gave was the ticket I was looking for which gave me pulley size and the bolt size that I needed ...was thinking of 3 inch or 4 inch pulley would do the job but I was not sure. now I have to make a run to the salvage yard to score my pulley, then to parts store for my bolts. My sweet girl should be back on the road in a few days if every thing works out right. :D I will try to get my wife to post some photos as the project moves along.
