No RPM

Postby flash2002 » Wed May 20, 2015 4:33 am

Hi guy's, I was working on my 84 standard and notice the RPM gauge not working. I check all the wires and everything looks to be good. Is there a way to check the RPM gauge ? Can it be the modual that's causing the problem, does the gauge run on 7 volts and can I run a wire from the coil to the gauge.

Going from memory..The tach is fully electronic. It requires a backlight to see it at night. There should be 3 wires to the tach module.Green ground...switched 12 volts and the pulse wire from one of the coil primary.
Check for the 12 volts first feeding the module. Not the brown backlight wire. The pulse wire would be difficult to measure with a meter. Its a very short pulsed voltage.
