Function of hole on control panel

Postby rperry@stfx.ca » Mon Jun 01, 2015 4:19 pm

Hi there,

The '84 Aspencade I just purchased seems to be missing a cover or part, in the lower left of this photo, just to the right of the top snap in the left fairing compartment. Ideas?

Thanks,
Richard

I don't know that it has a function, but there should be a plug covering it. See: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=27371

If you take off the pocket and look under it you should find a large round connector this is your plug for your head set and mike. There is a rubber boot that covers the hole allowing the wires to come out.-------------------------------Hal

I gotta tell you, I just bought an '84 Aspencade and I cannot believe the wealth of information and helpful advice on this website. When I was considering a Yamaha Venture I did some sleuthing for support sites. They have good resources too, but imagine the (probably) hundreds of thousands of $$ you've saved us non-pro mechanics over the years. Many thanks, and keep up the great work!

Don't be surprised if you pull the cover and the intercom connector is not there. I went looking for mine when I first bought my 86 asp and found out not all came with it. I put the factory intercom on the bike along with the cb, I figured why not, I was already in there.
You should have a blank plug if no intercom (which mine had) or a plug with a slot and small hole for cord to come through.
